And I have a few thoughts…
Hello hello, it is I! I have finally completed ‘Salem’s Lot and I don’t mean that in a way that the book was awful I just mean my god awful reading habits.
Anyway, straight into it, I loved ‘Salem’s Lot, like I really enjoyed it, the suspense, the constant need to turn the page and see what happens, all of it.
It truly is a masterpiece.
The way Stephen King writes it grips you, you find yourself wanting to find out what happens to the town, the inhabitants. How he so skilfully introduces new characters to kill them off just chapters later but you still root for them to live, to survive.
The book is a masterpiece. I could read it again, and still get goosebumps and the feeling of fear and apprehension even knowing what is about to happen.
King’s writing never ceases to amaze me. Even the blurb had me hooked…
Other than the minor (and tragic!) Death of Susan the entire book was superb, I mean there are no words to describe the fear that gripped me every time they encountered “them” or where the tension built so high when they entered the basement. It truly was top notch.
“Turn off the television – in fact, why don’t you turn off all the lights except for the one over your favourite chair? And we’ll talk about vampires here in the dim. I think I can make you believe in them” Stephen King – ‘Salem’s Lot.
Bye for now xx
