What’s up guys and welcome back to my blog! Today I’m reviewing something slightly different to my usual reads, a romance novel… The Boat Builder’s Bed by Kris Pearson. This was another free Kindle book that I liked the look of and I was not disappointed.
Overall rating… 4 out of 5 stars.
Let me start by saying I am not usually a romance type, I often find them cringey (looking at you 50 shades) or just downright awful because they focus too much on the sexual relationship and not enough on the storyline.
ANYWAY, back to my review! The Boat Builder’s Bed was none of those, we didn’t actually get into any nitty-gritty sex scenes for a good long while, the story was set long before then. Set in New Zeland, it was easy to imagine the sun shining down and the wind rushing through your hair as Sophie rode with Rafe on his motorbike – Kris Pearson dedicated time to setting the scene and developing the surroundings and the characters.
(I’m not a prude by any stretch) but sometimes sex scenes in books can be a little cringey and make you skip through them super fast, it was completely different in this book, Pearson really thought the scenes out and made them as realistic as possible.
I really enjoyed this book, surprising since it’s so far from my usual read! Have any of you read it before? Let me know! Em xx
