Hey guys, what is up and welcome back to my blog! Today I’m sharing my review of a book that I realise I’ve talked about many times but never actually shared my thoughts about and that is The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas.
Overall rating – 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I absolutely love this book, I’ve read it 3 or 4 times now, just trying to understand it more than anything and honestly everything about it (and I can’t believe I’m going type this) just bangs.
The storyline and the Troposphere, which in itself is impressive, were absolutely brilliant, I was sucked in from the very first chapter. Thomas explored the link between quantum physics and post-modernist and deconstructionist theory without ever making you feel as though you couldn’t understand, or without distracting from the storyline.
Everything turning into a big philosophical discussion or at points scientific discussion was one of the main selling points for me, I felt like I learnt new things just from reading a fictional book.
The premise of the book was like nothing I’d ever read before, which was part of the reason I was hooked on this book. A real page-turner for me, even after I’ve read it multiple times I’m still desperate to keep turning and keep reading!
Have you read The End of Mr Y? Let me know I would love to talk to someone about it! Em xx
