Hey guys, welcome to my blog! This is going to be a post showing you around my bookshelf and Kindle (cos that’s basically a bookshelf too lmao) – I had a lot of time on my hands this morning when I did this post!
Before I start though I want to talk about something… (It’s going to be a long one and probably a bit of a word vomit as I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time, so apologies).
I recently saw something on Twitter that really stuck with me, part of the reason I came off Instagram is that I didn’t feel my bookshelf was perfect enough to be posting photos of, and a lot of my books are actually on my Kindle. So, this tweet I saw basically said that regardless of if you own physical copies of the books you’ve read or if they are audiobooks, ebooks or books you’ve borrowed from the library it doesn’t make you any less of a reader and you don’t need a big fancy bookshelf to be a book influencer, I used to think I didn’t have a nice enough bookshelf to share or because a lot of my books are ebooks that I couldn’t take nice photos of them.
I now know this is not the case, I have been lucky enough to interact with some of the best people through this blog and I recently set up Twitter, I’ve found new books to read, new series to read and I’m in such a privileged position to receive advanced copies of books. But it’s taken me a long time to get to the point where I feel happy and comfortable here.
Which is the reason for this post, I love organising it’s a hobby of mine, but I feel like for me this is my way of showing to myself that I’m OK with not being the most creative person and that even though my bookshelf isn’t colour coordinated or anything else, it’s mine and I love it❤️
Obviously, it is an Ikea Billy bookcase!
So, on my top shelf, I have all of my standalone fiction books (with the exception of the Hannibal series) these are just various books I’ve brought or been gifted throughout the years. I’ve only just brought The Haunted by Niki Valentine, hence why it’s propped up.
The second shelf is like my series shelf, I couldn’t fit my illustrated HP books on there so I had to put those somewhere else, but these are my other series!
The third and final shelf is pretty much dedicated to Dan Brown and Stephen King, with a handful of none fiction books.
Then my precious Kevin the Kindle (as he was affectionately named about 7 years ago) he is basically another bookshelf as there are a total of 78 books on here, oops.
A bit like my bookshelf my Kindle is in folders, just because it’s easier to keep track of what I’ve read and how many books I’m piling up when I add to my TBR…
So I have stand-alone books which can be absolutely ANYTHING, NetGalley TBR as I like to keep these separate from my normal TBR, read already because nothing is better than seeing you’ve read 12 books but have double that and then some to read, NetGalley Read again so I can keep track, Stephen King, Non-fic, Twilight, Percy Jackson and Harry Potter, the last few are just to keep them separate to everything else and they’re either series or a big collection of one author.
I am sorry for the rambling at the start of this post, I just really needed to get that off my chest and I have wanted to share how I organise my bookshelf and Kindle forever so I’m not sorry about that!
Also, am having to think about getting a taller billy bookcase from Ikea so that I can fit my HP illustrated copies on there too, and the inevitable other books that I will treat myself to over the years.
CONGRATS if you made it to the end of my very long post today, I will be resuming normal service from now onwards. And thank you to every single person who follows me or has interacted with me, you’ve made this blog a happy place to be❤️
Em xxx
I love this post, I think it’s important in the modern age to realize we won’t all have crazy book collections anymore with the advent of ebooks.

Definitely! Especially since its become so much easier to get most copies of books in an ebook format, plus you can carry hundreds of books on one small device!
