The Holiday by T M Logan – read the synopsis here.
Overall rating – 4 out of 5 stars.
I was really split on how to rate this one, as parts of it I loved and enjoyed so much, but then other aspects it just felt really false and it became a bit of a slog to read.
I also guessed partway through the book the main plotline, not the specifics but I pretty much guessed the overarching story. And that was a real bummer, because then it felt like every page I read that wasn’t bringing that part of the story to a conclusion was dragging the story out.
However, I couldn’t get enough of the characters… It was as if the author had thought up as many differing personalities as possible and shoved them all into a bottle of coke and let them EXPLODE! They were excellent, so well written and so developed considering the sheer number of them within the story.
And the one thing I really enjoyed was how the characters had history, it felt like it added another layer to the story.
The atmosphere and intrigue did save me from becoming overly bored with the story, although it definitely got to the point where I was just reading to find out what happened…
I did rate it 4 stars though because overall, I really enjoyed reading The Holiday. It was very much a welcome escapism that had a different angle to books I’d read previously and really worked it’s way into my head with the NEED to know what was going on.
Happy reading bookworms! Until next time, Em xxx
