Hello my wonderful followers! I’ve finished yet another book, I’m on a roll at the moment📚
This time it was The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, it’s been made into a film in the last year or so and I kept seeing it advertised and remember thinking to myself “I need to read that before it comes out” and I finally got round to it!
Overall rating – 4 out 5.
I really enjoyed this book, it seemed like a fairly simple set up, but the further you get into it you realise it’s anything but. Rachel seems like your average commuter, making her train journey go faster by imaging the lives of the strangers she sees from the train window until it all comes unravelled.Â
Hawkins splits the book into 3 characters, splitting chapters between them, allowing us to see various aspects of the story from their POV, in a way that interlinks the story.
I have to admit, I did figure out early on whodunnit, but I didn’t feel that spoilt the book for me, if anything it made it more exciting, knowing that they were gearing up to the point they found it.Â
The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 out of 5 stars is that I felt like I’d read a similar ending in another book and that disappointed me, the ending didn’t feel overly original.
other than that, I really enjoyed this book, it was written well, you delved into all the right characters at the right time and the premise was excellent.
