The Family, P.R.Black – A Review. [SPOILERS]

What Em's Reading (4)

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! I’m super excited to be back with another review of a Kindle book that I’ve just read called The Family by P.R.Black – and I have a LOT of feelings to discuss with you guys about this…

My rating… 2 out of 5 stars.

Becky Morgan and her family were victims of a horrific murder some 20 years ago, Becky is the sole survivor, in the present day a Crimewatch appeal is made to solve the murder, nothing comes of it and Becky basically decides to go all “f**k the police” and attempt to find the killer herself.

It seems like a good premise so far, right?

Well here’s where my issues came in, the premise sounded so good, and when we were first introduced to the crime scene etc I felt like it was going to be a really good read. However, it felt at times too unrealistic. I mean high-end hackers from the dark web? Politicians being involved in various illegal activities via the dark web? It also just seems way too made up.

The twist at the end… I feel this would have had more of an impact on me had I not clocked about halfway through who the murderer was, it lost its edge. And do not even get me started on her sister!!!

On the whole, the premise of the book was good, I really was looking forward to getting stuck in, but the further I got into it, the more unrealistic and unbelievable it became.

Have you read The Family? Let me know what you thought! Em xx
