Top Ten Tuesday – Spring cleaning freebie!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This weeks topic is Spring cleaning freebie!

The examples for this post are books you’re planning to get rid of, books you’d like to clean off your TBR by reading them or unhauling them, books that feel fresh and clean after winter is over… So, I’ve decided to do a mix of them all!

1 – Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella. I picked this one because the spine on my bookcase keeps jumping out to me, it’s beautiful light colours which make me think of spring sunrises.

2 – The Guest List by Lucy Foley. This one has a beautiful and pristine spine and the cover is white, which just screams fresh and clean.

3 – The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. I’ve picked this because I’ve been planning a reread for AGES, so I’ll be clearing them off my TBR list.

4 – The Green Mile by Stephen King. This is one that has been on my TBR for years so I want to finally read it. It’s also green which is the perfect spring colour!

5 – The Tanglewood Tea Shop by Lilac Mills. This book just sounds like the perfect spring read so I’m going to make a real effort to read this one over the coming weeks.

As you’ll see I’ve only picked 5 because I’ve not long set up a TBR jar so I want to make full use of that instead of committing myself to set books. If these get pulled out then great, if not I’ll have to wait until they do!

Let me know if you’re taking part in Top Ten Tuesday so I can come check out your post.

Top Ten Tuesday – Purple, yellow and/or green book covers.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This weeks topic is purple, yellow and/or green book covers, which I’m really excited to do actually! I spent AGES looking through my books for covers that matched the prompt.

I actually have never read this book, it’s on my list to get round to eventually! This one is The Horse and His Boy by C S Lewis.
Another Narnia book this time it’s The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C S Lewis.
My most favourite ever Goosebumps book Say Cheese and DIE! by R L Stine.
Next is my copy of Inferno by Dan Brown.
And my Goosebumps Horroland series Creep of the Deep by R L Stine.
The first of two Stephen King’s on this list The Green Mile. Which has been on my TBR for longer than it should have been!
The second is The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King.
This is one of my FAVOURITE Roald Dahl books, it’s The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me.

This was so much fun to do, even if I don’t have the full 10 books! I just don’t have enough yellow or green or purple books on my shelves, time to rectify that with some shopping.

Until next time! Em xxx

Top Ten Tuesday – Luuuuuurve freebie!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This weeks topic is a love/Valentine’s day freebie, so I’ve decided to do a list of the romance books that I have on my TBR!

1 – Fear of Falling by Roz Marshall

2 – Dark Desires by Eve Silver

3 – Explicit by Roxy Sloane

4 – Me and Mr Jones by Lucy Diamond

5 – Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella

As you can see there are only 5 on my TBR list, I had a bit of a period where I only read romance novels so I got through quite a few that were on my list. If you have any good recommendations please let me know!

And as always, if you’re taking part in Top Ten Tuesday drop me a comment so I can check out your post.

Top Ten Tuesday – Books written before I was born.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This weeks topic is books written before I was born, which was in 1995. I’m going to try and do this from just books on my shelf so we’ll see how many I have!

I actually have about 15 books on my shelf that were written or published before I was born but I narrowed it down to these 10.

Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Published 1921.

The Supernatural Omnibus. Published 1931.

The Creeps Omnibus. Published 1935.

Lord Halifax’s Ghost Book. Published 1939.

Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. Published 1982.

The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. Published 1982.

The Turn of The Screw by Henry James. Published 1991.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephen King. Published 1993.

And then my final two are Crimes, Creeps and Chills and A Century of Creepy Stories. These two don’t have a published date in the book but I’m going to say around the 1930s as they’re very similar to the other ghost books I have.

There you have it, 10 books from before I was born in 1995! Let me know if you’re taking part in Top Ten Tuesday so I can check out your post too.

Top Ten Tuesday – Books that remind me of fall📚

Happy Tuesday fellow bloggers and book lovers! Today is Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by Jenna at That Artsy Reader Girl and is a weekly post born out of a love of books and wanting to bring us book lovers together.

I’ve picked my top 5 books on my bookcase that remind me of the upcoming season and festivities! And that includes Halloween and Christmas (in case you hadn’t guessed!)

Number 1 – One Week Till Christmas by Belinda Missen. Just looking at this book cover makes me feel all festive inside.

Number 2 – The Shining by Stephen King. I watch this film (and try to read the book) every year around Halloween, for me it just reminds me so much of Halloween!

Number 3 – The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty. Again, just looking at this book on my shelf reminds me of Halloween it’s like an involuntary reaction haha.

Number 4 – Murder on Christmas Eve by Cecily Gayford. I mean this literally has Christmas Eve in the title of course it’s going to remind me of the festive season.

Number 5 – The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas. I’ve picked this one because of the orange and yellow themes on the cover of the book that literally remind me of falling leaves and kicking through them while I’m walking!

And those are my top 5 books that remind me of Autumn, Halloween and Christmas because for me Autumn just equals festivities.

Let me know what yours are so I can come check out your post too!

Until next time, Em xxx

In case you hadn’t gathered from the title this weeks topic set by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl is favourite book quotes.

1 – “Mr. Moony presents his compliments to Professor Snape, and begs him to keep his abnormally large nose out of other people’s business. Mr. Prongs agrees with Mr. Moony, and would like to add that Professor Snape is an ugly git. Mr. Padfoot would like to register his astonishment that an idiot like that ever became a professor. Mr. Wormtail bids Professor Snape good day, and advises him to wash his hair, the slimeball.” Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.

2 – “We accept the love we think we deserve.” The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

3 – “Fear comes with imagination, it’s a penalty, it’s the price of imagination.” Red Dragon by Thomas Harris.

4 – “So turn off the television—in fact, why don’t you turn off all the lights except for the one over your favorite chair?—and we’ll talk about vampires here in the dim. I think I can make you believe in them, because while I was working on this book, I believed in them myself.” Salem’s Lot by Stephen King.

5 – “I am your number one fan.” Misery by Stephen King.

6 – “The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well.” Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.

7 – “Look after my heart – I’ve left it with you.” Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer.

8 – “Hello Clarice…” The Silence of The Lambs by Thomas Harris.

9 – “Good-bye Clarice. Will you let me know if ever the lambs stop screaming?” The Silence of The Lambs by Thomas Harris.

10 – “A room without books is like a body without a soul.” Cicero.

And there you have 9 of my favourite book quotes and one quote that I just adore about books. There are A LOT more than 10 that I could have picked so these are completely random from that list!

Top Ten Tuesday – Books for my younger self📚

Hello fellow bloggers and bookworms! It’s Tuesday again which means it’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post… This weeks topic is books for my younger self❤️

It can be anything from books you wish you read when you were younger or books that taught you something or even books that helped you get through events/changes in your life.

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and is a weekly post, born out of the want to bring us bookish people together and great for those of us that love a good list aka me!

1 – The Twilight Saga. I have recently re-read these and am fully embracing Twi-hard life again but I originally read these books back when I was in school and they helped me through a really tough time.

2 – The Harry Potter series. Again, I read these when I was much much younger (and still embrace my HP life) but they just were such a constant fixture in my life that I couldn’t leave them out.

3 – The Goosebumps books. I mean I still read these as an adult but reading them as a child I think solidified my obsession with horror and being scared.

4 – The Universe Doesn’t Give A Shit About You. Reading this as a teenager or young adult would have made my life SO much easier, luckily I did read it and it changed my life.

5 – The Mistborn series. I have read these, but as an adult, and I wish I’d read them when I was younger so I could experience the magic of the story for a little bit longer.

Most of these are just books I wish I had read sooner than I did, so I could have experienced them for longer but that I do have a connection with, for various reasons.

As always, let me know if you’re taking part in TTT so I can check out your post!

Until next time, Em xxx
