Top Ten Tuesday – Questions I would ask my favourite authors📚

Hello fellow bloggers and readers! It’s Tuesday again, literally the only way I know what day of the week we’re on at the moment is thanks to my pill packet lmao, and that means it’s Top Ten Tuesday again!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and is a weekly post, born out of the want to bring us bookish people together and great for those of us that love a good list (me!)

This weeks topic is ten questions I would ask my favourite authors, living or dead. I’ve chosen to post 10 questions, none specific to any authors. Here we gooooooo.

Q1 – Why did you want to become an author? I’m always interested to know the why’s behind things, especially if they were influenced by someone else – more recommendations for me!

Q2 – What inspired you to write this book? I’ve always wanted to try writing a book but I’ve never had that inspiration strike so to get some tips would be useful AF.

Q3 – How did you come up with the title? Some books it’s pretty clear where the title came from and it links directly to the book, but others it’s not so obvious and I’m a nosey bugger haha.

Q4 – Who inspired the main characters? OKAY, so they might just be pure figments of the imagination but there has to be some inspiration from somewhere, right?!

Q5 – Does writing energise or exhaust you? I’m guessing that writing a book is hard work, and I’d love to know how the author feels when they sit down to start piecing together their masterpiece.

Q6 – How do you overcome writers block? Different people will have different practices and ways to overcome this so it’s nice to hear how each individual overcomes it.

Q7 – What is your favourite book? Authors are still people and chances are they love books too!

Q8 – Who is your favourite author? Again, I am NOSEY and I love to know these things.

Q9 – If you didn’t write, what would you do for work? Whilst they may be a super successful writer they surely had to have a back up plan?

Q10 – What is your favourite part of being a writer? This is such an open ended question and I would love to give the author chance to express why they chose this career, what thrills them when they write etc.

And there are my 10 questions! If I’m ever lucky enough to interview an author for my blog I will certainly pull this list up and start quizzing them haha.

As always, let me know if you’re taking part in TTT and I’ll come check out your post too!

Until next time, Em xxx

Top Ten Tuesday – Books that should be made into Netflix shows/movies📚

Hello everyone! It’s Tuesday again and I’m finally taking part in my first TTT of August! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and is a weekly post, born out of the want to bring us bookish people together and great for those of us that love a good list (me!)

This weeks topic was submitted by Nushu @ Not A Prima Donna Girl and is books that should be turned into a Netflix show or movie. Which if that was the case for these books I would literally never read again lmao.

1 – The Whisper Man by Alex North. I love a good horror film, after books, they’re my next biggest passion and I feel like this would make a great suspense filled film.

2 – Wicked series by Piper Lawson. I feel like this would make a great TV show and it could really delve into the minor story lines and bring those to life, alongside the main plot.

3 – The Lost War by Justin Lee Anderson. This would make an AWESOME film, it’s mystical, it’s fantasy, it would do so well shown on screen.

4 – Goosebumps Horror Land Series by R L Stine. Now I know there is already Goosebumps episodes out there (and believe me they’re as scary now as they were when they came out) and there’s a film but I feel the Horror Land series is vastly underrated and would make the most amazing TV show.

5 – Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. I used to be so obsessed with this book when I was younger so seeing it in a film would just be teenage life goals for me.

And there are my top 5 picks for books that I would love to see made into a TV show or movie! Let me know if you’re taking part in TTT so I can check your post out too.

Until next time, Em xxx

5 – The Night Stalker by Robert Bryndza.

6 – The Lost War by Justin Lee Anderson.

7 – The Whisper Man by Alex North.

9 – Goosebumps Horrorland Series by R L Stine.

10 – The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.

Top Ten Tuesday – Book events/festivals I’d love to go to someday📚

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday! It’s Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. TTT is a weekly post, born out of the want to bring us bookish people together and great for those of us that love a good list (me!)

This weeks topic is book events/festivals that I’d love to go to someday. I have to admit I wasn’t really aware of any events or festivals and obviously covid-19 has ruined any plans for this year so I did some Googling and these are the ones, past and future, I would have love or love to attend.

I’ve only picked 5 this time as it was quite overwhelming with the choices of festivals and I wanted this list to also be something achievable for me to do and attend.

1 – Hay Festival. Taking place on the border of England and Wales they are famed for their number of bookshops. AKA my perfect weekend trip!

2 – Cheltenham Literature Festival. This is set in October which is my birthday month so it’s like fate that I must attend this one!

3 – Bloody Scotland. An event for crime lovers that also features a free to watch football game between Scotland and England crime writers. What is not to love? It’s my 2 favourite things in one place.

4 – Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival. This takes place in Harrogate and celebrates the very best of crime fiction, with winners of their award including Lee Child and Cal McDermid. I mean, it’s a festival about crime books I would be in my element!

5 – Jewish Book Week. Put on by the Jewish Book Council it features Jewish themes and writers and discussions around important topics of the day.

Story time! My great great grandparents on my Dad’s side fled Poland in the Second World War, they were Polish and Jews, and came to England to start a new life. My surname only goes back 4 generations and so if I ever wanted to trace my family tree I wouldn’t get very far on my Dad’s side.

And there you have my bucket list of festivals and book events I want to attend!

Until next time, Em xxx

Top Ten Tuesday – Books that make me smile📚

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday! It’s Top Ten Tuesday (of course) which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and is a weekly post, born out of the want to bring us bookish people together!

The topic today is one I’m very excited for and I had a huge grin on my face writing it! It’s books that make me smile😄

12 – Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. While this isn’t my favourite PJO book it’s the start of the series and it will always be something special to me for that reason. Picking it up makes me smile because I know I’m about to restart one of my favourite series of all time.

2 – Matilda. This is one of my all time favourite children’s books, I loved it when I was little and I still do now! I will reread this (and watch the film) so often that I could recite it backwards haha.

3 – The End of Mr Y. I love this book anyway but it’s the cover and coloured edges that made me pick this one, it’s such a pretty book!

4 – You Kant Make It Up. This is actually a non-fiction book that I picked up back when I was in high school doing my a-levels and it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. I picked it for this because the title reminds me of this video our ethics teacher used to show us that made me howl with laughter whenever I watch it!

5 – One Week Till Christmas. I reviewed this book early in the year, you can read it here, and it’s become a firm favourite of mine. It was such a sweet read and I read through it with a huge smile on my face!

As you can see I only did 5 as a lot of my books are crime/horror related and so I thought I would be a bit weird if I started talking about how I loved reading the Hannibal Lecter series and they made me smile when I picked them up lmao.

Be sure to let me know if you’re taking part in today’s TTT prompt so I can check out your post too!

Top Ten Tuesday – Authors I’ve read the most books by📚

Hey guys welcome back to my blog! It’s Tuesday (7th July already?!) which means it is time for Top Ten Tuesday! Currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and is a weekly post, born out of the want to bring us bookish people together!

This weeks topic is top 10 authors that I’ve read the most books by, but I’ve decided to do as many as I can, I might get to 10 (or I might not) I’m going to look back through my Goodreads and total my reviews for certain authors haha.

1 – J K Rowling. I’ve read all 7 Harry Potter books, the 3 Hogwarts Library books and The Casual Vacancy.

2 – Stephenie Meyer. I’ve read the 4 Twilight saga books and The Host and I will be reading Midnight Sun when it’s released. (WOOOOOP!)

3 – Thomas Harris. I have read all 4 of the Hannibal Lecter book series.

5 – Roald Dahl. I’ve read his 15 book collection, numerous times! I still have the boxset in the loft, a bit battered and faded but I’m saving them for when I have my own little ones!

6 – Dan Brown. I have just (as in the start of June) completed Origin which means I have read every book of his!

7 – Rick Riordan. I’ve read the first 5 of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, I want to do a reread at some point but the other books on my TBR list will screech at me if I do that lmao.

8 – Piper Lawson. I’ve read 4 of her books so far and enjoyed every single one, they were all amazing.

9 – Stephen King. I’ve lost count now of how many books of his I’ve read, I had ones from before I started blogging and using Goodreads too.

10 – Adam Nevill. Someone I didn’t find until the last year or so but so far I’ve enjoyed!

That was easier than I thought actually to find 10 authors I’ve read multiple books of, here was me thinking I’d struggle. Let me know if you’re taking part in TTT so I can check out your post too.

Top Ten Tuesday turns 10🎉🎊

Hello everyone! It is Tuesday today which means it’s time for Top Ten Tuesday… Today is a special one as TTT is 10, so we have a celebration post! Our brief for today is that we could pick any previous TTT post and redo or update it, we can be as creative as we like…

Top Ten Tuesday is currently hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl and is a weekly post, that was born from the want to bring us bookish people together and those of us who love a good list (me😂)

I have decided to post my top ten fave books I’ve ever reviewed, the original post was first ten books so I’ve decided to switch it up a bit and share my fave reviews instead!

If you click on the book titles you can see the original review I posted too.

1 – Salem’s Lot by Stephen King. I picked this one because it was the first ever book review I posted, and while I’ve certainly come a long way since then it reminds me of when I started out.

2 – Inferno by Dan Brown. This book literally planned an entire holiday for me and even though I only rated it 4 stars it still made such an impact on my life.

3 – Mirror Mirror by Anthony M Strong. I reviewed this 1 star, BUT, it’s my first ever bad review of a book so I had to include it!

4 – The Perfect Couple by Jackie Kabler. I really enjoyed reading this book and it’s definitely one that will be on my reread list, which is why I’ve included it.

5 – Die, My Love by Zoe Blake and 6 others. This was the first anthology I’d read and it was amazing. I’ve included it because I want more people to know about this book, it was SO GOOD.

6 – Camp Leanpe by Timothy R Baldwin. I’ve included this one because it reminded of the Goosebumps series I used to read as a child, so it was one of my favourites to review, it was like going into a time machine!

7 – Coraline by Neil Gaiman. I don’t know why I put off reading this book for so long because it was amazing and by far one of my favourites to review, I felt like I couldn’t get my words typed fast enough to share the review.

8 – Goosebumps by R L Stine. I mean of course I’ve included this one, I literally got in a time machine and went back to my childhood!

9 – Death Warrant by Will Pearson. This is the only none fiction book on my list and I’ve included it because it was my third book after I’d DNFR the 2 previous, and it really got me out of a slump.

10 – Hannibal book series by Thomas Harris. Technically this is 4 books in this review, but Hannibal is one of my all time favourite book series and I had to include it, as they were my favourite reviews to write.

Happy 10th birthday to Top Ten Tuesday too, originally from The Broke and the Bookish back in June 2010 it moved over to Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018 and it has been there ever since. I can’t even begin to imagine how many posts there has been in its 10 year history!

As always, let me know if you’re taking part and I will check out your post too.

Top Ten Tuesday – Books on my Summer TBR📚

Hey guys welcome to my blog and welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday! TTT is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and is a weekly post, born out of the want to bring us bookish people together. Today’s prompt is books on my Summer 2020 TBR…

I have a TBR list but I’ve never set myself an actual plan of books I will read off that so this will be the first time! I’m kinda excited to do this as I spend so much time picking out a book to read…

The ones I’ve picked aren’t necessarily ones that have been on my TBR list the longest, they’re just ones that I was instantly drawn to when I wrote this list. I’ve picked 5 as I’ve never given myself a set TBR before so I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself!

1 – The Hunted by Rachel Blackledge.

2 – Bones by Howard Odentz.

3 – The Garage by J Dispenza.

4 – Tales of Lunis Aquaria by Tessa Hastjarjanto.

5 – The Stranger by Albert Camus.

These likely have been on my list for a while and I’m going to make them a priority to read else they’ll get forgotten about when more books get delivered.

As always let me know if you’re joining in with Top Ten Tuesday and I’ll come check out your post! And let me know if you’ve read any of these books and what you thought of them.

Top Ten Tuesday – Books I’ve added to my TBR list and forgotten why📚

Hey everyone, it’s Tuesday again! Which means it’s Top Ten Tuesday day – which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and is a weekly post born out of the want to bring us bookish people together (and those of us that love a good list).

This weeks prompt is books I’ve added to my TBR list and forgotten why. I’m only going to do 5 because despite my TBR list piling up I actually can remember why I picked the majority of them.

I’ve also linked all of these books to Goodreads if anyone wants to check them out!

1 – The Whisper Man by Alex North.

2 – Fiddleback by Jeff Vrolyks.

3 – Bones by Howard Odentz.

4 – The Garage by J. Dispenza.

5 – The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.

Having read the blurbs of these on Goodreads I can remember why I added them to my list, but that doesn’t mean I won’t forget again or be bumping them to the top after this post.

As always, let me know if you’re taking part in TTT as I would love to see what you have on your lists and maybe add a few more to mine!

Top Ten Tuesday – Books that give off a summer vibe📚

Hey everyone it’s Tuesday again and it’s June?! I feel like the days either drag like crazy or they’re gone in the blink of an eye at the moment!

Anyway, as it’s Tuesday it is Top Ten Tuesday – a weekly post currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, born out of a love of books and lists and a want to bring us bookish people together. Today’s prompt is books that give off a summer vibe so here we go:

1 – Schooled by Piper Lawson. I picked this because despite school making me think of September this book was something I would usually pick to chill next to the pool with while I’m on my hols.

2 – Summer Unplugged by Amy Sparling. Okay so I did not rate this book at all when I read it but the title literally gives off a summer vibe!

3 – The Perfect Couple by Jackie Kabler. Again, this book makes me think of being somewhere sunny, relaxing and reading this by the poolside.

4 – Talk To Me by Roseanne Beck. I think there’s a theme here with these romance type books giving me that sunny holiday feeling haha.

5 – Here Come the Girls by Milly Johnson. This book is literally set on a cruise ship, what more do you want?!

Okay I know it’s top ten Tuesday and I only did five but I really struggled to find any other books that I would read or have read that gave off that Summer vibe.

Let me know if you’re doing TTT too and I will come check out your post! Em xxx
